As reported by ITV News last week, residents in Lowestoft in Suffolk are counting the cost of a summer soaking after nearly a month’s worth of rain fell in just 24 hours.
Occupants of a number of houses were affected as water-levels rose up to “waist deep”.
A rest centre was opened to help people who wanted to leave their homes.
The wettest place was Norwich with more than 40 mm (1.6 inches) in the 24 hours at 6am on Saturday. The usual monthly rainfall in July in the Anglia region is 51 mm (2 inches).
